Area Sales Manager (£40,500) (Car + fuel + laptop/phone)

Job Description

VANRATH have partnered with one of the largest wine merchants in NI. The organisation is looking to recruit a Area Sales Manager.

The successful candidate will work travel across NI visiting different stores, this is predominately a field-based role.

Salary and benefits:

£40,500 salary with a company car and fuel card. Laptop and phone will be provided.

Responsibilities:

Sales, Profit & Business Planning

-To analyse sales information and to develop and implement sales initiatives throughout the region.

-To set and monitor sales targets for the region with regards to turnover, focus products and tasting products.

-To regularly meet formally with each Manager on an individual basis to review sales targets, turnover figures and variable costs, in order to maximize sales and forward plan for each store.

- To manage and control wage, stock and other costs.

- To monitor competitor activity.

Store Standards

-To achieve and maintain the company standards of merchandising and display in each store and also ensuring cash audits, store audits, PTR checks and stock take checks are conducted in each store on a quarterly basis, including compliance with licensing legislation.

-Responsible for ensuring checks are completed in each store after all promotional changes.

-To ensure all administration and paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently in each store.

-Ensure Age Related Sales are being adhered to and monitored.

Provision of Excellent Customer Service

-To ensure excellent customer service and care is provided throughout the region.

-To ensure that each store is adhering to the service standards set by the Company.

-Be responsible for serious customer complaints that arise.

Team Development

-To identify training needs for colleagues and implement relevant training, in conjunction with developing and motivating the management team through quarterly meetings and one to one meetings in store.

-To train, develop and motivate the team in each store through in-store sales training sessions.

Human Resources

-Responsible for recruitment for all positions within their region, ensuring the right candidate is chosen.

-To work effectively alongside HR in managing HR issues both informally and formally.

-To liaise with and manage the RSD workload for the region.

Stock Control

-To regularly review the stock results of each premises

-To identify and rectify any stock loss issues, in conjunction with the management team

-To ensure that stock control procedures are being strictly adhered to at all times across all premises

Health and Safety

-To ensure that Company policy is being adhered to in relation to health, safety and hygiene, and that accurate records are being maintained

-To liaise with the Company Health and Safety Officer on a regular basis regarding any health and safety issues

Miscellaneous

Any other duties relevant as related to the post

The Ideal Candidate:

Education:

  • Educated to degree level with a general business qualification preferred and 3 years' service at a Senior Store Manager or Regional/Area Manager basis

OR

  • Good standard of secondary education required, minimum A-Level or equivalent essential.
  • 5 years' experience years' service at a Senior Store Manager or Regional/Area Manager basis

Desirable

  • WSET Level 3 wine certificate.
  • Experience within the off licence sector
  • Previous experience of managing a multi-site retail operation

Skills:

  • Computer literacy essential, and in particular, experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proven management of a team and delivering results through this team
  • Ability to display leadership behaviours and show team development
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyse and act upon systems information.
  • The person must be organized, flexible and positive with good problem solving abilities and leadership/motivational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all media
  • Have the ability to sustain consistent performance even under pressure, and willing to take on extra responsibility when required
