VANRATH are supporting our Public Sector client in their search for a new Area Business Manager to support their Belfast team. This is a full-time temporary opportunity for a period of 6 months initially with the potential for permanency.

Who you'll work with

Our client is a large emergency services provider covering the region in multiple locations. This opportunity sits within the busy Operations team based in Belfast, where the post holder will provide and manage an efficient, effective and economic Operational Support and Business function for the local area and wider organisation.

What you'll do

Working in collaboration with the wider Management Team and reporting to the Area Commander, the post holder will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of administrative support staff and those employed in surrounding districts. duties will be spread across but not limited to:

  • Management and continuous review of all administrative standards of service, policy and procedures relating to Operations, customer service, Personnel & Training and Community Safety, ensuring consistency of approach.
  • Collate and contribute to the Strategic Planning process, ensuring tasks are commenced and completed as outlined by regular review and monitoring of progress.
  • Responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to across the area in relation to Procurement and Financial Management, including review of the Area budgetary position, and the economic, effective and efficient use of budgets and Area resources.
  • Lead on the recruitment and selection of staff and be responsible for the identification of the training needs in relation to administrative support staff.

About you

Our client are looking for a person with senior team management experience within and office environment, who has the ability to work on their own initiative while leading and supporting others to.

You will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • 5 x GCSE's at 'A', 'B' or 'C' level (or equivalent) including English
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience including supervision of staff.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of Information Technology systems in a working environment which must
    include extraction of statistical data and high quality presentation of documents.
  • Ability to manage, train and develop staff within a team environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Experience of a system with budgets and procurement.
  • Current driving licence.
