VANRATH are recruiting a Architectural Technician (Public Sector) to provide a full range of architectural and building surveying services in connection with building/civil engineering projects for Council properties.



Remuneration:
c£31,895, alongside holiday entitlement and pension (from day one).

The Ideal Person

Have a minimum of a third level qualification in a building related subject e.g. architecture, architectural technology or building surveying

OR

Full membership of a recognised professional body relevant to the post

AND

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years' experience in a drawing or design office environment to include:

  • Design and delivery of non-domestic schemes;
  • Knowledge of Statutory Approvals process;
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations;
  • Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.

Or for candidates who do not meet the qualification/professional membership requirements as outlined above:

Be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 4 years' experience in a drawing or design office environment to include:

  • Design and delivery of non-domestic schemes;
  • Knowledge of Statutory Approvals process;
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations;
  • Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

Responsibilities

  • Carry out both dimension and condition survey work to Council assets and provide information in the form of drawings and reports.
  • Survey land/buildings and prepare transfer maps for disposal of Council property, Lease maps between Council and third parties, Licence maps between Council and third parties.
  • Develop client brief and provide feasibility studies and outline design proposals. Prepare detailed design proposals for approval of Client.
  • Work in partnership with a range of external consultants (e.g. Quantity Surveyor, M&E Consultant, Structural Engineer, and Principal Designer).
  • Make applications for statutory approvals associated with proposed schemes such as but not limited to Planning and Building Control applications.
  • Collate tender information for procurement of consultants and contractors. Work in partnership with Council Procurement team regarding tender process and issue of tender information, assist with the evaluation of tender submissions and draft tender reports when required.
  • Act as lead Project Manager as directed on allocated projects (budget up to £500K) from inception through to completion, ensuring they are completed to the required standard, on time and within the allocated budget.
  • Chair regular progress meetings throughout project lifecycle, including design phase meetings, pre-start meetings, monthly progress meetings and handover meetings.
