Job Description

I am delighted to be recruiting for an Accounts Payable Manager for a Magic Circle law firm. My client offers vast opportunities across a global market and has a generous remuneration package on offer to ensure they attract the best talent in the market.

The Role
This role will lead a collective team of 16 and have 2 direct reports and be responsible for the AP and expense function across many entities. It is vital the successful candidate has experience leading a large and complex AP function and be well versed in driving team productivity to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Owning, managing, and standardising all AP processes for the Belfast managed offices
  • Manage Internal Control Framework
  • Ensure compliance and taxation requirements
  • Building strong relationships with, and becoming a trusted advisor to stakeholders
  • Overseeing the timely & accurate processing of all invoices & expenses
  • Managing all payment runs along with the timely resolution of all queries
  • Manage a large team, made up of both Team Leads and AP assistants
  • Set & monitor challenging goals, hold regular 1 -1 and team meetings, and promote a collaborative environment
  • Managing change in a fast passed, transactional environment
  • Managing difficult conversations, both within the team and with customers.



The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and have a supportive nature, to encourage team members to meet their targets and increase productivity across the team. Moreover, it is vital the successful candidate has previously managed and implemented KPI's and Service Level Agreements. The ideal candidate should meet the fowling criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above to include Maths and English
  • Experience of managing a large AP/Expenses function
  • Experience of managing KPIs, SLAs and other performance metrics
  • Experience of analysing problems and proposing solutions
  • Ability to resolve conflict efficiently without damaging relationships
  • Effective manager of self, team and task to ensure quality services are consistently delivered
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and understand and identify creative solutions to technical issues and pass technical knowledge on to others effectively
