The firm is looking for someone to join the Belfast office and become a key member of the team providing a range of services to our clients. This role is ideally suited to a qualified Accounting Technician or qualified Bookkeeper but applications will be considered from those who are qualified by experience.

About you

Qualifications

  • Accounting Technician qualified or with suitable experience; or
  • Bookkeeper qualified or with suitable experience


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice
  • Preparation of accounts and financial statements
  • Knowledge of VAT return preparation
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent client facing skills


Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Payroll Experience including knowledge of auto-enrolment requirements
  • Experience using a range of accounting software, preferably Xero



What you will do

  • Ideally the successfully applicant would have 2+ years' experience in general practice.
  • An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing in English
  • Key roles and responsibilities include:
    • Maintaining clients' bookkeeping using accounting software, mainly Xero. This would include inputting invoices and bank transactions and completion of bank reconciliations.
    • Assistance with the preparation of annual accounts for companies, sole traders and partnerships.
    • Preparation of VAT returns for clients using accounting software
    • Assistance with the setup of new clients on Xero software, training client staff members and addressing queries on an ad-hoc basis.
    • Assistance with the preparation of personal and corporate tax computations and tax returns.
    • Assistance with audit fieldwork on an occasional basis
