Take the reins as the sole Assistant Accountant in a high-profile organisation- a part-time role with an immediate start.

VANRATH are delighted to be exclusively partnered with a leading organisation, who are seeking a part-time Assistant Accountant. The opportunity to give you end-to-end ownership of day-to-day finance operations. You'll handle core bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end support, working independently while partnering with senior finance when needed.

About you

  • AAT (or equivalent) qualification desirable, or working towards it
  • Experience in accounts & payroll administration, strong bookkeeping fundamentals
  • Confident with accounting software and Excel; comfortable with VAT postings
  • Accurate, well-organised, and able to communicate clearly with stakeholders
  • Comfortable working independently as the sole Assistant Accountant while collaborating with senior finance as needed

What you'll do

  • Manage accounts payable/receivable
  • Resolve creditor/debtor queries, and run periodic payments
  • Post bank transactions and complete reconciliations for bank, cash, and key balance-sheet control accounts
  • Ensure accurate VAT treatment
  • Support management accounts (prepayments, accruals) and highlight discrepancies to senior staff
  • Process payroll end-to-end, maintain compliant records, update starters/leavers, and produce reports for review/audit
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and best practice
