VANRATH are partnered with a significant Public Sector employer based in Derry, who are recruiting several Accountants to join their team. These are long term contracts within the public sector and are initially scheduled to be a minimum of 12 months in duration. The organisation are renowned for providing contract staff with the opportunity to apply for a permanent post, if you are keen on a future career within the public sector, this could be the ideal foot-in-the-door opportunity.

The Accountant will report to the Head Accountant and will be responsible for the provision of business support services to stakeholders within relevant directorates. This will include the production of regular, meaningful financial analysis reports to ensure effective budgetary control.

To be considered for these roles, it is essential to be a Qualified Accountant with at least 2 year's post qualified experience within a similar role. The successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrable experience of leading & managing a team, possessing excellent organisational skills. These contracts are offering a June start date and will be structured on a hybrid working basis.

About you

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Management Accounting experience
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Excel
  • Effective communication skills with a track record of working with a range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead/manage a team

  • Support with the maintenance of effective financial control
  • Ensure all relevant budget adjustments are reflected accurately
  • Financial analysis
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Preparing financial reports
  • Ensure finance systems are accurately maintained
