A leading public sector organisation based in Belfast require an SO Accountant to join their team on a 12 month interim basis. Are you a Qualified Accountant who is keen to gain exposure within the public sector, this could be the ideal role for you.

VANRATH are pleased to be recruiting a Staff Officer Accountant to join a leading public sector employer in Belfast on an initial 12 month contract basis. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a fast paced department within a large public sector department, candidates with previous management accounts experience would be ideal.

Reporting to the Head Accountant, the Staff Officer Accountant will be responsible for monitoring budgets and expenditure, liaising with budget holders and assisting with the year-end accounting processes.

The Ideal Person

If you are a Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA):

  • Preparation of both management and year end accounts
  • Strong technical, numerical and IT skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Public sector experience (desirable)

Responsibilities

As an Staff Officer Accountant you will:

  • Produce management reports and variance analysis
  • Prepare budgets and scenario planning
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of the draft Annual Accounts
  • Enhance current systems and implement new systems as required
  • Support business preparation where required
