Quantity Surveyor

VANRATH is delighted to be assisting an award-winning Chartered building company, recognised as one of NI and Ireland's leading construction contractors in the recruitment of a Quantity Surveyor for their Cookstown offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements
  • Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded
  • Collate and coordinate information from site surveys
  • Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis
  • Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales
  • Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome
  • Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings
  • Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings


The Ideal Person:

  • Ideally have Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction related experience will also be considered for the role
  • Experience in Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years
  • Be articulate, pro-active with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills and comfortable working with minimum supervision
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages including outlook, word, excel and project
