Laboratory Analyst

VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting an experienced lab assistant to support our scientific public sector client in their upcoming research projects.

The role will initially run for 3-6 months, with a high chance of extension and progression routes for the right candidate.

Full time, 37.5 hours a week Mon - Fri.

Salary

£19K + holiday pay + pension

The Ideal Person

- Scientific degree

- Experience working in a laboratory environment

- Great Microsoft Excel knowledge

- Familiar working with standard lab equipment

- Experience with recording and compiling scientific data

The Role

  • Collection, sorting, and analysis of samples, recording any issues/non-conformance.
  • Logging details of samples onto the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Ability to work as part of a team delivering research results within specific time schedule
  • Maintenance of general cleanliness within the main laboratories
  • Work to standards required by ISO17025. Associated duties relating to ISO accreditation, updating records, temperature monitoring accreditation duties include temperature monitoring, airflow monitoring update of spreadsheets etc. as per specific lab.
  • Maintenance of laboratory records. This involves working with Excel spreadsheets, filing, scanning and emailing paperwork, as well as calibration and maintenance of related lab equipment as required.
  • Ordering and collection of store items.
  • Stock taking of consumable items, monitoring usage of chemicals and consumables.
  • Acquiring knowledge of job-related protocols and completion of the organisational mandatory training as required.
