Investigating Officer
Location: Belfast City Centre
Salary: £39,862 per annum
Contract: Initial Interim Contract
VANRATH are delighted to support a leading public sector body in the appointment of an Investigating Officer on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to join a respected organisation that plays a vital role in ensuring accountability, fairness, and improvement across Northern Ireland's public services.
The postholder will work as part of an investigations team responsible for assessing and investigating complex complaints, analysing evidence, and preparing detailed written reports and recommendations in line with statutory and organisational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake impartial investigations into complaints or systemic issues within public service delivery.
- Analyse complex and sensitive information to reach balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
- Prepare high-quality written reports and correspondence.
- Conduct interviews with parties and witnesses where required.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver service standards and performance targets.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A degree (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' relevant experience analysing information to reach evidence-based conclusions; or a minimum of 4 years' equivalent experience.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and planning ability to manage multiple cases to tight deadlines.
- Proven experience interpreting legislation, policy, or regulatory guidance.
- Confidence handling challenging interviews and demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
