Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
Are you looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor role? Interested in working for a dynamic commercial fit out contractor?

VANRATH are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to work on various commercial fit out projects in Northern Ireland.

Remuneration:
c£40,000 to £50,000 + package

Client:
Our client is a dynamic fit-out contractor based in Greater Belfast, Northern Ireland. They specialise in high quality commercial interior fit-out projects covering retail / shopfitting, bars and restaurants, hotels, commercial offices, gyms and more.

Business is very busy and growing continuously and as a result they are looking for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage subcontract packages, appointments and material procurement
  • Direct and proficient negotiation of client contract sums
  • Oversee measures and report variances to the board and client team
  • Prepare valuations for interim applications and assessments
  • Prepare supporting documentation for the client and their consultants
  • Produce Bills of quantities for construction and fitout schemes
  • Monitor costs to ensure budgets are met and attend regular finance meetings internally and externally
  • Liaise closely with Site Managers and Project Managers to record all variations, change requests and instructions
  • Monitoring sub-contractor accounts, negotiations and referrals
  • Preparation and submission of weekly financial reports to client and client QS
  • Monthly cost/value reconciliations to the board
  • Monitoring cash collection
  • Finalising of project accounts with detailed analysis and insight into project performance
  • Managing several projects at different stages at any one time
  • Providing commercial support to the Estimating and manufacturing teams
  • Promote best practice in Health, Safety and Environmental matters
  • Monitoring compliance of projects and following company procedures while delivering best practice
  • Assisting to implement the business plan, developing business opportunities in line with the business strategy, and looking for market opportunities
  • Regular and accurate reporting to the Commercial Director, Finance Director and MD


Experience:

  • Degree qualified or other relevant qualifications
  • Ideally have experience working on commercial fit out projects
  • Track record working for a Main Contractor
  • Strong commercial skills and awareness
  • Good understanding of construction forms of contract and techniques including construction costs, and ability to knowledgably advise the client
  • Clear understanding of contractual obligations, breaches and remedies
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office and other role relevant software packages
  • High standard of proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Sound understanding of financial management procedures
