Communications Officer (£32K)

Job Description

VANRATH are recruiting for a temporary Communications Officer (Staff Officer level) for a well-known Public Sector organisation. This is an immediate start initially until the end of March 2023.

Responsibilities

The Communications Officer will be a member of a team of officers responsible for a range of duties within the Communications and Co-ordination Unit.

They will report to a Unit Manager and have a key role in implementing all aspects of the Communications and Co-ordination Unit's work, including the organisations publicity and media related activity, the implementation of the political and stakeholder strategies, and of the organisations internal communications systems.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drawing up and implementing publicity strategies, publicity plans and other stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Co-ordinating the organisations response to enquiries from press and other stakeholders.
  • Preparing briefings for staff prior to media interviews, meetings with stakeholders and speaking engagements.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for press enquiries.
  • Acting as first point of contact for political and other Corporate Stakeholder enquiries.
  • Assisting with the delivery of the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.
  • Drafting press releases and articles for publication and background.

Candidate

Essential Criteria:

A relevant third level or equivalent professional qualification (such as

public relations, journalism, marketing, information services, communications or public affairs). Applicants without a third level or professional qualification will only be considered if they have at least three years relevant experience in a related area.

relations, journalism, marketing, information services, communications or public affairs).

  1. Excellent written and face-to-face communication skills.

Remuneration
