Business Manager (Deputy Principal Level)

Job Description

VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation in their search for a Business Manager initially on a temporary basis for 6 months initially with further extension likely.

Remuneration

This is a Deputy Principal level role for a NICS organisation with salary starting at £39,748 plus excellent holiday allowance.

The Ideal Person

Essential experience:

  1. Providing support and strategic development of systems/processes to ensure business performance is maintained and to meet financial and non-financial reporting requirements;
  2. Experience of providing support to senior staff and directors and excellent numeric skills
  3. Experience in corporate governance and development of business plans and business continuity plans
  4. Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work as part of a team or under own initiative in order to meet tight deadlines.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. A high level of IT competence in Microsoft Word and Microsoft excel.
  7. Excellent project management skills
  8. Business case development skills and experience of governmental procurement processes and governance.

Responsibilities

  • To work in partnership with the Director of the Division in the administration of the Division and associated business processes.
  • To strategically develop and assist in the delivery of annual divisional plans and assist branches with their business planning and associated resource bids, business continuity plans and continual updating of risk registers.
  • Develop and maintain the organisation's information database and produce reports to demonstrate progress against objectives and initiatives as defined in the annual operating plan
  • Investigate, develop and implement enhancement to processes and governance, in particular budgetary management and delivery of projects to ensure the division meets the targets issued and that anticipated budget variances are communicated on a timely basis.
  • To effectively manage the daily administrative duties of the business
  • To monitor Service Level agreements in relation to finance, IT, legal services, information governance, HR etc.
  • Identify and develop reviews of key operations including driving efficiency across the division to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and value for money.
  • Lead investigations into optimising staffing structure that deliver an effective, efficient and resilient divisional support structure with a positive work life balance for staff.
  • Develop key business cases for procurement of high value items and services and assist senior staff in the production of robust and accurate business cases before their submission for approval.
  • Draft reports on performance for regular accountability meetings between the stakeholder organisations.
  • Develop, manage and maintain the Corporate Risk Register.
