Posted by ryan on 2011-02-22 in News
The Grass Roots Group have a small but well established team in Belfast and are now looking to push forward and hire a number of intermediate and senior Java Developers and a Junior Product Manager.
The Grass Roots Group are a global performance improvement company. Their clients include RIM / Blackberry, Microsoft, Cisco and Sainsbury’s to name but a few. We are leading a search for a number of Intermediate/Senior Java Portal developers to work on global projects using the likes of Liferay in an Open Source environment in their expanding Belfast R&D centre.
They have been a Sunday Times Top 100 company for the past four years and have half of the FTSE 100 companies as their clients. Their turnover is in excess of £235 million.
Belfast is home to a small but expanding Java R&D centre for the group company globally. The technology stack is Java / J2EE enterprise portal web development to include portlets, JSP, JSF, Spring, Struts & Hibernate. A lot is powered by Liferay, the free Open Source portal, and the main database technology is SQL Server. We can see they are comfortable with open source and it indicates the collaborative culture that exists - they use ANT, JIRA and OpenSSO.
For these roles we can consider Intermediate and Senior Java developers with 2-10+ years commercial experience. Suitable candidates should have commercial experience in Java/J2EE web development.
The following is also desirable:
- Previous development experience in a mix of the following areas : JSP, JSF, Apache Velocity, CSS, Javascript, Hibernate, SOA, Spring, Struts, XML, SVN, Unit Testing, & WebServices
- Experience effectively using UML for analysis and design
- Knowledge of OpenSSO, enterprise architect, Jira, ANT, Eclipse and Liferay
This is a unique opportunity to enter your career in, or move into, Java Portal Development. The work is very interesting - if you’re smart, love Java development, and have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit then you'll do very well. Developers here are autonomous, with some supervision, but we are looking for Java practitioners who are passionate about development. You will have some involvment in the product road map too - there is room for innovation.
